“We make a living by what we get.
We make a life by what we give.”
- Winston Churchill

We have found that by helping our communities, we are given an opportunity to learn, grow and understand how we fit into the world around us.

Salvazione Christian School

The school was formed to accommodate the learners from the Slovo Park informal settlement who could not attend the local schools due to their dire financial and personal circumstances. There are currently 235 learners from Grade R to Grade 7 attending the school. Today, the school offers a balanced curriculum, is well governed, and its finances are prudently managed.

A capable and dedicated Headmistress leads the school with a supportive Staff. A committed group of regular volunteers ensures that additional learning is also well facilitated.

Salvazione is a registered independent school that receives a state subsidy, which provides only a third of the funding required to run the school. Unfortunately, this state subsidy is no longer guaranteed, placing the school under additional financial pressure.

The Bursar of The Ridge School manages the finances, which are independently audited. Members of the Board include Heads of 3 top Johannesburg private schools.

One of the biggest challenges the Board faces is raising sufficient funds to cover the ever-increasing cost of providing adequate education to an impoverished and underprivileged community. For the school to continue its enormous amount of good work to provide a secure, happy environment conducive to learning for these underprivileged children, it welcomes donations and financial support.
